Since September 2020, Simona Meiler has been a doctoral student in the Weather and Climate Risk Group. She completed both her Bachelor's and Master's degree studies at ETH in Environmental Sciences majoring in Biogeochemistry and Pollutant Dynamics. She wrote her Master's Thesis on Oxygen Extreme Events in the Eastern Tropical Pacific in the Environmental Physics Group (Prof. Dr. Nicolas Gruber) and finished her Master's with a professional internship at MIT in Boston (Prof. Dr. Mick Follows) where she modeled the biogeography of diazotrophs in the global ocean.

Simona spent most of her time enrolled at ETH in a dual career as a student and professional snowboarder representing Switzerland at major international sporting events.
